  1. What is Copyright? Copyright is a law that protects a creators work of art, literature, or ideas. It also protects the right to control how the work is used so no one steals or takes the responsibility of his/her work with permission.
  2. What types of materials and items would be protected under the copyright law? There is so many things that can be protected under the copyright law, but some types of materials and items include: Books, Musical Composition, Fine Art, Music, and much more.
  3. What types of materials and items would NOT be protected under the Copyright Law? The types of materials and items that would NOT be protected under the Copyright Law would include: Ideas, Facts, Titles, Names, and Short Phrases.
  4. What are the possibe penalties for Violating copyright Law? Possible penalties for Violating copyright Law could be getting sued, charged for a crime until innocent or proven guilty. You could also charged with a Violation of a Felony for Violating copyright Law.
Example for #2 for Copyright: An example that would be protected under the Copyright Law for Cara's Kickn Soccer Store would be a Soccer Book. If a soccer book was created and published and with the Owner's(Cara) own thoughts and ideas and sold in the store, then it would be protected because Cara wrote it and used her own ideas.

Fair Use Research

  1. What does it mean when something can be used under the Fair Use Law? It basically means when something can be used under the Fair Use Law it is copying material that is already copyrighted for a purpose, but some uses you don't need permission from the copyright owner. It also depends on if it's a purpose as to comment, criticize, or parody the work that is copyrighted, which means the fair use law information or analysis is broken up into two sections: commentary and criticism, or parody for someones use.
  2. How do you know if your use of copyrighted material is fair use? You know if your use of copyrighted material is fair use when your imformation is purpose of education, the fundamental qualities of a person or thing and its own personal identity, if the person has created his/her thing as a whole, and how much the copyrighted work is originally worth.
  3. What tips should always be followed when using information on the internet? Tips that should always be followed when using information on the internet is always give credit to the person or website you found your information on. It's always good to find out if the person or author provided information about it there creation. In all, its definately good to ask the copyright holder for permission before you steal something that they own.
Example of Fair Use: If you read a Article about a soccer game, It would be an example of fair use if you took a piece of that article and you put that piece in your own article.

Getting Permission

  1. What are the student's guidelines for using information from the internet in a school related publication or multimedia presentation? Student's Guidelines for using information from the internet in a school is when it is used for a course or a project. They can also use the material that is copyrighted when people/students use there own projects in there folder, or when the project is used in job interviews or an application.
  2. When should you get permission to use copyrighted material? You should get permission to use copyrighted material when you use materials for commercial purposes, use material repeatedly, and when you use work more than 2,500 words. You should also get permission when you duplicate materials, plan to go farther than the guidelines, and can't tell wether what your using is fair use or not.
